Egypt entry requirements for India passport holders
Indian passport holders need an e-visa to enter Egypt. The application is entirely online, and you must bring a printed copy of the approved visa to present on arrival. Plan ahead — processing typically takes 3–5 business days.
Entry requirements
| Requirement | Details | Status |
|---|---|---|
| eVisa application Apply before travel | Apply for an Egypt eVisa at the official portal before departure. The eVisa is valid for tourism and single-entry stays up to 30 days. Processing takes 3–7 business days, so apply at least a week ahead.Apply for eVisa | Required |
| Valid passport 6 months validity required | Your Indian passport must have at least 6 months of remaining validity from your date of entry into Egypt. Airlines check this at check-in — if your passport expires sooner, you'll be denied boarding. | Required |
| Return or onward ticket Proof of onward travel | Immigration officers at Cairo Airport routinely ask for a return or onward ticket. Have a printed copy or a digital version on your phone ready. Overstaying your eVisa incurs a fine of 100 EGP per day. | Required |
| Proof of accommodation Hotel booking or invitation letter | Carry a printed hotel reservation or an invitation letter from your host in Egypt. Immigration may ask for it at the border, especially if you're arriving without a pre-booked tour. | Recommended |
| Proof of funds Show sufficient cash or card | Have at least $1,000 USD or equivalent in cash, traveler's checks, or a credit card statement. Immigration rarely checks this for tourists, but it's better to have proof ready. | Recommended |
