Apply early — peak season delays
During summer (April–September), Schengen visa processing can take 30 days or more. Book your appointment at least 6–8 weeks before your planned departure. Walk-ins are not accepted.

Determine which French consulate handles your region
India has several French consulates (Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Kolkata, Pondicherry). Check the France-Visas website to see which one covers your state. You must apply at the correct jurisdiction — they won't accept applications from outside their zone.

Complete the online application on France-Visas
Go to France-Visas.gouv.fr, create an account, fill in the form, and print the final PDF. The system will guide you to book an appointment at the VFS centre linked to your consulate. Double-check every field — a typo can delay processing.

Attend your appointment at the VFS centre
Arrive 15 minutes early with all documents: printed application, passport, photos, travel insurance, flight and hotel bookings, bank statements, and a copy of your appointment confirmation. They'll take biometrics (fingerprints and photo). Expect to pay the visa fee (around €80–90 for adults, less for children).

Wait for processing
Standard processing takes 15 calendar days, but can stretch to 30 days during peak season (April–September). You can track your application online with the reference number from VFS. Do not book non-refundable flights until you have the visa.

Collect your passport
Once approved, you'll get an SMS or email to pick up your passport from the VFS centre, or have it couriered to you. Check the visa sticker carefully: verify your name, dates, and that it says 'SCHENGEN' and 'MONACO' or 'FRANCE' as the destination.

Arrive in Monaco
Monaco has no airport — you'll fly into Nice Côte d'Azur Airport (NCE) in France, then take a bus (€22, 45 minutes) or helicopter (€170, 7 minutes) to Monaco. At Nice airport, you'll clear French border control. Have your passport, visa, return ticket, and hotel address ready.
