Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Valid passport
Must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your departure date from Armenia
Your passport must have at least 6 months of remaining validity from the day you leave Armenia. Airlines check this at check-in — if your passport expires sooner, you will be denied boarding. Carry a photocopy of the bio page separately.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from Armenia
Immigration officers routinely ask for a confirmed onward ticket showing you leave within 180 days. A bus ticket to Georgia or a flight to Istanbul works — just show you are not staying indefinitely. Airlines also check this before issuing a boarding pass.Recommended
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Border officers may ask where you are staying, especially if you arrive without a clear itinerary. Have a printed hotel confirmation or a letter from a host with their address and phone number. Booking.com or Airbnb confirmations are fine.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can support yourself during your stay
Officers occasionally ask for evidence of funds — roughly 50,000 AMD (~$130) per day of stay. A bank statement from the last month, a credit card with a decent limit, or a wad of cash in USD/EUR works. No set minimum is published, but having the equivalent of $500–$1,000 total is safe.Recommended
No visa needed — just show up
Icelandic passport holders get 180 days visa-free in Armenia. No application, no fee, no embassy visit. Just a valid passport and a return ticket.
Passport validity is strictly enforced
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from your entry date. If it's close to expiring, renew before you travel. Immigration will not make exceptions.

What happens at the border

1
Arrive at the border
At Yerevan's Zvartnots Airport or any land border crossing, join the queue for foreign passports. Have your passport and boarding pass ready.
2
Present your documents
Hand over your passport. The officer will check your validity (6+ months), scan it, and may ask for your return ticket or accommodation details. Answer clearly and briefly.
3
Receive your entry stamp
The officer stamps your passport with the entry date and the maximum stay (180 days). No visa sticker is applied. You're free to enter.
