Visa on arrival
Icelandic passport holders can get a visa on arrival at any Oman international airport. The visa costs 20 OMR (about $52 USD) and is valid for a single entry up to 30 days. You pay at the immigration counter with a credit card or cash — no pre-approval needed.Check eVisa portalRequired
Valid passport
Must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your arrival date
Your passport needs at least 6 months of remaining validity from the day you land in Oman. Airlines at Keflavik check this before boarding — if your passport expires sooner, you will be denied boarding.Required
Return or onward ticket
Required for visa on arrival
Immigration officers in Muscat routinely ask for proof of a return or onward flight out of Oman. Have a printed or digital copy of your ticket ready — they will not process the visa on arrival without it.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Carry a printed hotel confirmation or an invitation letter from your host in Oman. Immigration may ask for it during the visa on arrival process, especially if you cannot show a clear itinerary.Recommended
Proof of funds
Bank statement or cash
Have a bank statement or at least 200 OMR (about $520 USD) in cash or on a card. Officers rarely check this for Icelandic passport holders, but it is better to have it ready.Recommended
Visa on arrival is straightforward
No pre-approval, no forms to fill online. Just show up with your passport, 20 OMR, and a return ticket. The whole process takes about 15 minutes at Muscat airport.
Passport validity is strictly enforced
Airlines check this before boarding. If your passport expires within 6 months of your entry date, you won't be allowed to fly. Double-check before you book.

What happens at the border

1
Arrive at Muscat International Airport
After landing, follow signs to 'Visa on Arrival' counters (usually before passport control). Queue up, hand over your passport and the 20 OMR fee. The officer will process your visa and stamp you in. Total time: 10–20 minutes.
2
Proceed to passport control
With your visa sticker in hand, join the main passport control queue. Have your boarding pass and return ticket ready. The officer may ask your hotel name and how long you're staying.
3
Collect luggage and exit
After passport control, grab your bags from the carousel and walk through customs. There's usually no customs declaration for personal items.
