eVisa is not extendable
The Russian eVisa is strictly for stays up to 16 days. You cannot extend it. If you overstay, you risk fines, deportation, and a ban from re-entering Russia. Plan your exit before you arrive.
Keep digital copies of everything
Save your eVisa approval, passport photo, and travel documents as PDFs on your phone and in cloud storage. If you lose your printed copies, you can still show them on your phone at immigration.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for the eVisa online
Go to the official Russian eVisa portal (evisa.kdmid.ru) and fill out the application. You'll need your passport details, a digital photo, and your travel dates. Processing usually takes 4 calendar days. Print the approval email and save a PDF on your phone.
2
Pack your documents
Before heading to the airport, gather: your passport (valid 6+ months), printed eVisa approval, return ticket, first night hotel booking, and travel insurance. Keep them in a folder you can grab quickly.
3
Arrive at the airport in Russia
At passport control, hand over your passport and eVisa approval. The officer may ask for your return ticket and hotel address. Answer clearly. They'll stamp your passport with the eVisa validity dates. The whole process usually takes 2–5 minutes.
4
Register your stay (if required)
Hotels in Russia are required to register foreign guests within 7 days of arrival. If you're staying in a private apartment, you may need to register yourself at the local migration office. Your host should handle this — confirm with them.
