Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Valid passport
Must be valid for the duration of stay
Your passport must be valid for the entire period you plan to stay in Tunisia. Airlines check this at check-in — if your passport expires before you leave, you will be denied boarding.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from Tunisia
Immigration officers routinely ask for a return or onward ticket at Tunis-Carthage Airport. Have a printed or digital copy of your outbound flight ready — they will check the date matches your 90-day visa-free limit.Recommended
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Keep a copy of your hotel reservation or a letter from your host. Officers at the border may ask where you are staying, especially if you arrive without a clear itinerary.Recommended
Proof of funds
Sufficient money for your stay
Carry cash (euros or US dollars are easiest to exchange) or have a credit/debit card with a visible balance. Immigration can ask how you plan to support yourself — having around 50 TND per day in accessible funds avoids problems.Recommended
Passport validity is strict
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from your entry date. Airlines check this before boarding — if you're short, you won't fly.
No visa needed, but have proof of onward travel
You don't need a visa, but immigration may ask for a return or onward ticket. Keep a screenshot on your phone.

What happens at the border

1
Prepare your documents
Before you leave, make sure your passport has 6+ months validity and at least one blank page. Book your return ticket and first night's accommodation. Save screenshots of everything on your phone.
2
Arrive at Tunis-Carthage Airport (or other entry point)
At immigration, join the 'Foreign Passports' queue. Hand over your passport. The officer may ask for your return ticket and accommodation details. Answer clearly. You'll get a stamp allowing up to 90 days.
3
Collect your luggage and exit
After passport control, collect your bags from the carousel. There's usually a customs check but it's typically quick for tourists. Then you're free to leave.
