Jordanian passport holders need a visa to enter Iran in 2026. You must apply and receive approval before you travel — there are no visa-on-arrival options for Jordanian citizens.

Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Iran eVisa application
Apply before travel
Apply for an Iran tourist eVisa at e-visa.ir/en/ at least 2 weeks before your flight. The visa approval comes as a barcoded authorization code — print it and carry it with your passport. You still get a visa sticker on arrival at Imam Khomeini or other international airports.Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
Must be valid for the duration of stay
Your Jordanian passport must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your intended departure date from Iran. Airlines check this at check-in — if your passport expires sooner, you will be denied boarding.Required
Return or onward ticket
Required for entry
Immigration officers at Iranian airports routinely ask for proof of onward travel. Have a printed or digital copy of your return flight or a ticket to your next destination ready. Without it, you risk being refused entry and sent back on the next flight.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or invitation letter
Iran requires you to show a confirmed hotel booking or a sponsor's invitation letter for the entire stay. If you are staying with friends, have them send you a signed invitation letter with their national ID number. Immigration may call your hotel to verify the reservation.Recommended
Proof of funds
Cash or bank statement
Carry enough cash (USD or euros) to cover your stay — credit cards from outside Iran do not work due to sanctions. A bank statement showing at least $500–$1,000 equivalent is a good idea. Immigration rarely asks, but if they do, you need to show you can support yourself.Recommended
Visa required — apply well in advance
Jordanian passport holders cannot enter Iran without a pre-approved visa. The application process takes 2–4 weeks, so plan ahead. No visa-on-arrival is available.
Passport validity counts from entry date
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the day you land in Iran, not from your departure date. Double-check before you apply.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for your visa online
Go to the Iranian e-visa portal (e-visa.ir) and fill out the application. You'll need your passport details, travel dates, and a digital photo. Processing typically takes 2–4 weeks. Once approved, you'll receive a visa authorization code — print it and save a copy on your phone.
2
Pack your documents
Before heading to the airport, gather: your passport (valid 6+ months), printed visa approval, return/onward ticket, first night hotel booking, and travel insurance documents. Keep them in your carry-on.
3
Arrive at the airport in Iran
At Imam Khomeini International Airport (IKA) in Tehran or other international airports, proceed to immigration. Hand over your passport and visa approval. The officer may ask for your return ticket and hotel booking — have them ready. Expect a brief interview about your purpose of visit.
4
Collect your luggage and exit
After immigration, collect your bags from the carousel and proceed through customs. If you arranged an eSIM, it will activate automatically. Otherwise, buy a local SIM at the airport shop.
