Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
eVisa application
Apply before travel
Apply for a Guinea eVisa at the official portal linked below. Processing takes 3–5 business days, and you'll receive an approval letter by email. Print the letter and carry it with your passport — immigration at Conakry Airport will check it before stamping you in.Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
Must cover entire stay
Your Japanese passport needs at least one blank page for the entry stamp. Guinea does not enforce a 6-month validity rule — your passport just needs to be valid for the duration of your stay. Airlines may still ask for 6 months, so check with your carrier before flying.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure
Immigration at Conakry Airport routinely asks for a return or onward ticket. Have a printed or digital copy ready showing your departure from Guinea within the eVisa's validity period.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Carry a printed hotel reservation or a letter of invitation from your host in Guinea. Immigration officers may ask for it, especially if you're arriving without a pre-booked itinerary.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can support yourself
Have bank statements or a credit card ready to demonstrate you have enough funds for your stay. Officers rarely ask, but it's better to have proof on hand.Recommended
Yellow fever vaccine required
You must have a yellow fever vaccination at least 10 days before arrival. Carry your Yellow Card — immigration will ask for it.
eVisa is your only option
There is no visa on arrival or visa-free entry for Japanese passport holders. Do not travel without an approved eVisa.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for eVisa online

2
Print your eVisa and pack documents
Print the eVisa approval email. Also print or save on your phone: passport info page, return ticket, hotel booking, and insurance certificate. Keep them together in a folder.
3
Arrive at Conakry International Airport (CKY)
After landing, follow signs to 'Immigration'. Join the queue for 'Foreign Passports'. Hand over your passport, printed eVisa, and return ticket. The officer will stamp you in. No separate visa-on-arrival counter.
