Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
eVisa application
Required before travel
Apply for an Albanian eVisa at the official portal before departure. Processing takes 3–5 business days — do not book non-refundable flights until approved. The eVisa is single-entry only.Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
Must be valid for entire stay
Your Kenyan passport must be valid for at least 3 months beyond your planned departure from Albania. Airlines check this at check-in — if your passport expires sooner, you will be denied boarding.Required
Return or onward ticket
Required for entry
Border officers at Tirana International Airport routinely ask for proof of onward travel. Have a printed or digital copy of your return flight or a ticket to your next destination ready.Required
Proof of accommodation
Recommended to carry
Hotel booking confirmations or a letter of invitation from your host in Albania satisfy this requirement. Officers rarely ask, but having it printed avoids delays if they do.Recommended
Proof of funds
Recommended to carry
Carry bank statements or a credit card showing you can cover your stay. Albania does not enforce a specific minimum amount, but showing €50–€100 per day is standard practice.Recommended
Passport validity counts from entry date
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the day you arrive in Albania, not your departure date. If it expires sooner, renew before applying for the eVisa.
Keep digital copies of everything
Save your eVisa PDF, flight booking, and accommodation confirmation on your phone. In case you lose internet access, offline copies are a lifesaver.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for the eVisa online
Go to the official Albanian eVisa portal (e-visa.al). Fill in your personal details, upload a passport-style photo and a scan of your passport bio page. Pay the fee with a credit or debit card. Processing usually takes 3–5 business days, but can be longer during peak season.
2
Receive and save your eVisa
You'll get an email with your eVisa approval as a PDF. Download it, print a copy, and save it on your phone. Double-check your name and passport number match exactly.
3
Prepare your documents for travel
Before you head to the airport, gather: your passport (6+ months validity), printed eVisa, return/onward ticket, and first-night accommodation confirmation. Keep them in your carry-on.
4
Arrive at Albanian border control
At Tirana International Airport (TIA) or any land border, join the 'All Passports' queue. Hand over your passport and eVisa. The officer may ask for your return ticket and accommodation. Answer clearly — they're usually quick. You'll get an entry stamp valid for up to 90 days.
