Passport validity is strictly enforced
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your departure date from Mongolia. Airlines check this at check-in — if it expires sooner, you will be denied boarding. No exceptions.
Overstay fines add up fast
The fine is $10 USD per day, capped at $500 USD. If you overstay, go to the immigration office in Ulaanbaatar before your flight to pay and get a clearance letter. Don't try to pay at the airport — they'll send you back to the office.

Apply for the eVisa online
Go to evisa.mn, fill out the application, upload a passport-style photo and a scan of your passport bio page. Pay the fee (single entry $50 USD, multiple entry $80 USD). Processing takes 3–5 business days. You'll receive an approval letter by email — print it.

Arrive at Chinggis Khaan International Airport (UBN)
After landing, follow signs to immigration. Join the queue for foreign passport holders. Have your passport, eVisa approval letter, and return ticket ready. The officer will stamp you in — typically for 30 days. The whole process takes 10–20 minutes if you have everything ready.

Register with immigration (if staying more than 30 days)
If you plan to stay longer than 30 days, you must register at the Foreign Citizens Registration Office in Ulaanbaatar within 5 days of arrival. Bring your passport, eVisa, and proof of address. They can extend your stay by up to 30 days for a fee.
