Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
eVisa application
Apply before travel
You need an eVisa to enter Qatar. Apply through the Hukoomi portal — the official government eVisa platform. Processing usually takes 3–5 business days, so apply at least a week before your flight.Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
Must be valid for the duration of stay
Your Kenyan passport must be valid for at least 6 months from your date of arrival in Qatar. Airlines check this at check-in — if your passport expires sooner, you'll be denied boarding.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from Qatar
Immigration officers routinely ask for a confirmed onward or return ticket. Have a printed copy or a screenshot ready on your phone. Without one, you may be refused entry and sent back on the next flight.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Have your hotel reservation or a letter from your Qatari host ready. Immigration may ask where you're staying — a booking confirmation with the hotel name and address is enough.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can support yourself
Carry at least 5,000 QAR (roughly $1,370 USD) in cash or have a bank statement showing available funds. Immigration rarely asks, but if they do, you need to show you're not coming to work illegally.Recommended
eVisa required — no visa on arrival
Kenyan passport holders cannot get a visa on arrival in Qatar. You must apply for and receive an approved eVisa before you travel. Boarding without one will result in denial.
Passport validity counts from entry date
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the day you land in Qatar, not from your departure date. Double-check before you apply.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for the eVisa online
Go to the Hukoomi eVisa portal, fill in your details, upload a passport photo and a copy of your passport bio page, and pay the fee. Processing usually takes 3–5 working days. You'll receive the approved visa by email.
2
Pack your documents
Print or save to your phone: the eVisa approval email, your passport, return ticket, hotel booking, and travel insurance. Keep them all in one folder for quick access.
3
Arrive at Hamad International Airport (DOH)
Follow signs to 'Arrivals' and join the queue for 'Non-GCC Passports'. Hand over your passport and eVisa. The officer may ask for your return ticket and hotel address. Answer clearly and calmly.
4
Collect your luggage and exit
After immigration, head to baggage claim, then customs. There's nothing to declare for personal items. Exit into the arrivals hall — taxis and ride-hailing pickups are outside.
