There is no visa-on-arrival or e-visa option for Lao passport holders travelling to the UK. You must apply for and receive a visa before you travel. Plan at least 4-6 weeks ahead.
Transit requires a visa too
Even if you're just changing planes in a UK airport and not passing through border control, you still need a Direct Airside Transit Visa (DATV). Apply for this separately if you're transiting.

Book and Attend Biometric Appointment
After submitting, book an appointment at a UK Visa Application Centre (VAC) — there are VACs in Vientiane and other regional centres. Bring your passport, appointment confirmation, and any supporting documents.

Standard processing takes about 3 weeks, but can be longer during peak seasons. You'll receive an email or SMS when a decision is made.

Collect Your Passport
Once approved, your passport with the visa vignette will be returned to the VAC or couriered to you. Check the vignette dates carefully.
