Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Valid passport
Must be valid for the duration of your stay
Your passport must be valid for the entire time you plan to stay in Seychelles. No minimum validity period beyond your departure date is required, but airlines may enforce a 6-month rule — check with your carrier before flying.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from Seychelles
Immigration officers routinely ask for a confirmed return or onward ticket at the border. Have a printed or digital copy of your flight booking ready — they check this before stamping you in.Recommended
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or invitation letter
Carry a printed or digital copy of your hotel reservation, hostel booking, or a letter from your host. Officers rarely ask for it, but having it ready avoids delays.Recommended
Proof of funds
Evidence of sufficient money for your stay
Have a bank statement, credit card, or cash showing you can cover your expenses. Seychelles is expensive — budget at least $100–$150 USD per day. Officers rarely check, but better to have it.Recommended
Travel Authorization (eTA)
Online pre-approval required before travel
All visa-free visitors must apply for a Travel Authorization at seychelles.govtas.com at least 24 hours before departure. The fee is $10 USD, and approval is usually instant. Print the confirmation or save it on your phone — immigration scans the QR code on arrival.Apply for eTARequired
No visa needed, but documents matter
Even though you don't need a visa, immigration officers can still deny entry if you can't show a return ticket, accommodation, or proof of funds. Have everything ready before you arrive.
Overstaying is costly
Overstaying your 90-day visa-free period can result in fines of around 1,000 SCR per day (about $75 USD) and possible deportation. Set a reminder to leave on time.

What happens at the border

1
Arrive at Seychelles International Airport
You'll land at Seychelles International Airport (SEZ) on Mahé island. Follow signs to immigration. There are usually separate queues for citizens and foreigners — join the foreigner queue.
2
Present your documents at immigration
Hand over your passport, return ticket (printed or on your phone), and accommodation booking. The officer may ask a few questions about your plans. Answer clearly and briefly.
3
Receive your entry stamp
The officer will stamp your passport with a visa-free entry valid for up to 90 days. Check the stamp says the correct date before leaving the counter. You're free to enter.
4
Collect luggage and exit
After immigration, head to baggage claim, then customs. There's usually nothing to declare for personal items. Exit into the arrivals hall.
