Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
eVisa application
Apply before travel
You need a Cuban tourist card (eVisa) before departure. Apply at the Cuba Ministry of Foreign Affairs portal — the process takes about 5 business days. Print the approval letter and carry it with your passport; immigration at Havana Airport will stamp it on arrival.Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
Must be valid for entire stay
Your Lebanese passport must be valid for the full duration of your stay in Cuba. Airlines at Beirut–Rafic Hariri Airport will check this before boarding — no 6-month rule applies here, but don't let it expire mid-trip.Required
Return or onward ticket
Required for entry
Cuban immigration officers at José Martí International Airport always ask for proof of onward travel. Have a printed or digital copy of your return flight or a ticket to a third country ready — they check this before stamping you in.Required
Proof of accommodation
Recommended to have ready
Immigration may ask where you're staying — carry a printed hotel booking confirmation or a letter from your casa particular host. Airbnb receipts work fine too.Recommended
Proof of funds
Recommended to have ready
Officers rarely ask, but having a bank statement or credit card showing at least $500 USD equivalent covers you. Cash declarations over $5,000 USD must be reported on arrival.Recommended
eVisa is single-entry only
The Cuban eVisa allows one entry. If you leave Cuba (even for a day trip), you'll need a new visa to re-enter. Plan your itinerary accordingly.
Internet is limited in Cuba
Public Wi-Fi is available at hotels and parks, but it's slow and costs around $1–$2 per hour. An eSIM from Airalo gives you data immediately on arrival — no need to queue at a telecom office.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for the eVisa
Go to the official Cuban eVisa website. Fill in your details, upload a passport photo, and pay the fee (around $30–$50 USD). Processing takes 2–5 business days. You'll receive the eVisa by email — print it or save a PDF on your phone.
2
Pack your documents
Before you leave, gather: passport (valid 6+ months), eVisa printout or digital copy, return ticket, first night accommodation booking, and travel insurance. Keep them in your carry-on.
3
Arrive at Havana Airport (HAV)
At immigration, present your passport and eVisa. The officer will stamp your passport. Have your return ticket and accommodation ready in case they ask. The process usually takes 10–15 minutes.
4
Exit customs
After immigration, collect your luggage and go through customs. Declare any items over $1000 or restricted goods. Then you're free to enter Cuba.
