What happens at the border

1
Apply for a Cuban visa
Contact the nearest Cuban embassy or consulate. Submit a completed application form, your passport, a passport photo, flight itinerary, and proof of accommodation. Processing takes 5–10 business days. Fees vary by embassy — expect around $50–80 USD.
2
Pack your documents
Before you leave, print or save digital copies of your visa approval, passport info page, return ticket, and hotel booking. Keep them together in a folder or on your phone.
3
Arrive at Havana Airport (HAV)
After landing, follow signs to 'Immigration' or 'Migración'. Join the queue for foreign passports. Hand over your passport, visa, and return ticket. The officer will stamp you in — no questions if everything is in order.
4
Collect luggage and exit
After immigration, pick up your bags from the carousel. Then head to customs — green channel for nothing to declare, red channel if you have goods over $50 or restricted items.
