Sri Lankan passport holders need a visa to enter Serbia in 2026. You must apply at a Serbian embassy or consulate before you travel — there is no visa on arrival or e-visa option. Processing can take a couple of weeks, so plan ahead.

Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Visa application
Apply at Serbian embassy or consulate
Sri Lankan passport holders need a visa before traveling to Serbia. Apply at the nearest Serbian embassy or consulate — processing takes 5–15 working days depending on the type. The Ministry of Interior website lists required documents and fees.Check visa requirementsRequired
Valid passport
Must be valid for at least 90 days beyond your stay
Your passport must be valid for at least 90 days after your planned departure from Serbia. It also needs at least two blank pages for entry and exit stamps.Required
Return or onward ticket
Required for entry
Border officers will ask for a confirmed return or onward ticket. Have a printed copy or a digital version on your phone ready — airlines also check this before boarding.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or invitation letter
Immigration may ask for a hotel reservation or a letter of invitation from your host in Serbia. Keep a printed booking confirmation or a digital copy accessible.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show sufficient means for your stay
You may need to show you have enough money for your trip — around €50 per day is a safe benchmark. A bank statement or credit card with available limit works.Recommended
No visa on arrival or e-visa
Sri Lankan passport holders cannot get a visa at the airport or online. You must apply at a Serbian embassy or consulate before you travel. Plan for 2–3 weeks of processing time.
Schengen visa holders can skip the visa
If you already have a valid Schengen visa (multiple-entry or two-entry), you can enter Serbia without a separate Serbian visa for up to 90 days. This is a common workaround for Sri Lankans.

What happens at the border

1
Apply at the Serbian embassy or consulate
Since there's no e-visa, you must submit your application in person at the Serbian embassy in Colombo (or the nearest consulate if none in Sri Lanka). Book an appointment online or by phone. Bring all required documents.
2
Wait for processing
Standard processing takes 7–15 working days. The embassy may call you for an interview. Don't book flights until you have the visa.
3
Collect your passport with visa
Once approved, you'll get a visa sticker in your passport. Check the validity dates and number of entries. If anything is wrong, tell the officer immediately.
4
Arrive at a Serbian port of entry
At Belgrade Nikola Tesla Airport or any land border, join the 'All Passports' queue. Hand over your passport with the visa sticker. The officer may ask about your stay — have your hotel address and return ticket ready.
