Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
eVisa application
Apply before travel
Apply for an Azerbaijan eVisa at evisa.gov.az at least 3 working days before departure. The eVisa costs $24 USD (service fee) plus a $20 USD state fee, is valid for 90 days, and allows a single entry for up to 30 days. Print the approved eVisa and carry it with your passport — border officers will scan the QR code.Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
Must cover entire stay
Your Luxembourg passport must be valid for at least the duration of your stay in Azerbaijan. Airlines and border officers do not enforce a 6-month validity rule for Luxembourg passport holders — just make sure it doesn't expire while you're in the country.Required
Return or onward ticket
Required for entry
Immigration officers at Heydar Aliyev International Airport routinely ask for proof of onward travel. Have a printed or digital copy of your return flight or a ticket to your next destination ready.Required
Proof of accommodation
Recommended to carry
Hotel booking confirmations or a letter of invitation from a host in Azerbaijan can speed up the immigration process. Officers rarely ask for it, but having it ready avoids delays.Recommended
Proof of funds
Recommended to carry
Carry evidence of sufficient funds for your stay — a bank statement or credit card showing access to at least $50 USD per day. Officers rarely check this for Luxembourg passport holders, but it's a formal requirement.Recommended
eVisa is the only option
Luxembourg citizens cannot get a visa on arrival in Azerbaijan. You must obtain an eVisa before travel. Apply at least 3 business days ahead.
Passport validity counts from entry, not departure
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the day you land in Azerbaijan. If it expires sooner, renew it before applying for the eVisa.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for the eVisa online
Go to evisa.gov.az, fill in your personal and passport details, upload a passport-style photo, and pay the fee (approx. $20–$25 USD). Processing takes up to 3 business days. You'll receive the eVisa by email as a PDF.
2
Print or save the eVisa
Print a paper copy and also save the PDF on your phone. You'll need to show it at check-in and on arrival in Azerbaijan.
3
Arrive at Heydar Aliyev International Airport (GYD)
Most Luxembourg travellers fly into Baku. After landing, follow signs to 'Passport Control' for foreign nationals. Have your passport, eVisa printout, and return ticket ready. The officer will stamp your passport with a 30-day entry stamp.
4
Collect luggage and exit
After passport control, proceed to baggage claim, then customs. No arrival declaration is required for standard tourist visits.
