Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Valid passport
Must be valid for the duration of your stay
Your passport needs to be valid for the entire period you plan to stay in Taiwan. Taiwan does not require 6 months of validity beyond your departure date, but some airlines may enforce this — check with your carrier before flying.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from Taiwan
Immigration officers at Taoyuan Airport routinely ask for a return or onward ticket. Have a printed or digital copy ready showing your departure from Taiwan within the 90-day visa-free period.Recommended
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Carry a printed or digital hotel reservation for your first few nights. If staying with friends, have their name, address, and phone number written down — immigration may ask for it.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can support yourself
Have a bank statement or credit card ready showing you have enough money for your stay. Immigration rarely asks for this, but having it avoids delays if they do.Recommended
No online registration needed
Luxembourg passport holders do not need to register online or fill out any arrival declaration before traveling. Just show up with your passport and return ticket.
Passport validity is strictly enforced
Airlines check your passport validity at check-in. If you have less than 6 months left, they will not let you board. Renew your passport well in advance.

What happens at the border

1
Prepare documents before departure
Ensure your passport has 6+ months validity and at least 1 blank page. Book a return ticket and first night's accommodation. Save screenshots of both on your phone.
2
Fill out arrival card on the plane
You'll receive a small white arrival card from the flight crew. Fill it out in English — name, passport number, flight number, address in Taiwan. Keep it with your passport.
3
Queue at immigration
At Taoyuan (TPE) or Kaohsiung (KHH) airports, follow signs for 'Foreign Passports' or 'All Passports'. The queue moves fast. Have your passport, arrival card, and return ticket ready.
4
Present documents and get stamped
Hand over your passport and arrival card. The officer may ask your purpose of visit and how long you're staying. Answer briefly. They'll stamp you in — usually for 90 days. Keep the departure stub in your passport.
5
Collect luggage and exit
After immigration, go to baggage claim, then customs. Use the green channel if you have nothing to declare. You're in.
