Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
eVisa application
Uganda eVisa
Apply online at the Uganda eVisa portal before you travel. Processing takes 3–5 working days, and you'll receive an approval letter by email — print it and carry it with your passport. The eVisa costs around $50 USD for a single-entry tourist visa.Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
Must be valid for the duration of stay
Your Luxembourg passport needs at least 6 months of remaining validity from your date of entry into Uganda. Airlines check this at check-in, and immigration officers at Entebbe enforce it strictly.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from Uganda
Immigration officers at Entebbe International Airport routinely ask for proof of a return or onward flight. Have a printed or digital copy of your ticket ready — they won't let you through without it.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Carry a printed hotel reservation or a letter of invitation from your host in Uganda. Immigration may ask for it, especially if you're arriving without a pre-booked tour package.Recommended
Proof of funds
Sufficient money for your stay
Have at least $200 USD in cash or a credit card with available balance. Immigration officers occasionally ask to see proof of funds, especially for longer stays.Recommended
Apply for the eVisa early
Don't wait until the last minute. Processing can take up to a week, and you don't want to be stuck at the airport without approval. Apply at least 7 days before your flight.
Keep your documents handy on arrival
At Entebbe, have your passport, eVisa approval, return ticket, and accommodation confirmation ready before you reach the immigration desk. It speeds things up and avoids awkward fumbling.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for the eVisa online
Go to visas.immigration.go.ug and fill out the application. Upload a passport-style photo and a scan of your passport bio page. Pay the fee (around $50 for a single-entry tourist visa) with a credit card. Processing usually takes 2-3 business days, but apply at least a week before your trip.
2
Receive and print your eVisa approval
You'll get an email with an approval letter. Print a copy and also save it on your phone. Keep it with your passport.
3
Arrive at Entebbe International Airport
Most Luxembourg travellers fly into Entebbe. After landing, follow signs to immigration. Join the queue for 'Visitors' or 'Foreign Passports'. Have your passport, eVisa approval, and return ticket ready.
4
Present documents and get stamped
Hand over your passport and eVisa letter. The officer may ask a few questions (purpose of visit, where you're staying). Answer clearly. They'll stamp your passport with a 90-day entry permit. That's it.

Frequently asked questions

Typically 2-3 business days, but it can take up to a week during peak times. Apply at least 7 days before your flight to be safe.
A single-entry tourist eVisa costs about $50. There's also a transit visa for $50 and an East Africa Tourist Visa (allows multiple entries to Uganda, Kenya, Rwanda) for $100. Fees are paid online by credit card.
Yes, you can apply for an extension at the Immigration Office in Kampala. Extensions are granted in 3-month increments and cost around $50. You'll need to show proof of funds and a reason for staying longer.
Yes, Uganda requires proof of yellow fever vaccination if you're arriving from a country with risk of yellow fever. Luxembourg is not a risk country, but if you've recently travelled to a risk area, you'll need the certificate. It's a good idea to get the vaccine anyway — it's one less thing to worry about.
Rejections are rare for Luxembourg passport holders. Common reasons include incomplete applications, unclear passport scans, or incorrect photo. If rejected, you'll get an email explaining why. You can reapply with corrected information. Contact the Uganda Immigration office if you need help.
Technically yes, but it's not recommended. The queue can be long, and you'll need to fill out forms and pay in cash (USD). The eVisa is faster and more reliable. If you do go for visa on arrival, bring $50 cash and a passport photo.
It's not a standard requirement for Luxembourg passport holders, but immigration officers may ask. Have a bank statement or credit card ready just in case. A few hundred dollars in cash or a card with a decent limit is usually enough.
