Valid passport
Must be valid for the duration of your stay
Your passport needs to be valid for at least the length of your stay in Qatar. Airlines at Riga Airport may ask for 6 months validity — check with your carrier before flying.Required
Return or onward ticket
Required for entry
Immigration officers at Hamad International Airport routinely ask for a confirmed onward or return ticket. Have a printed copy or a screenshot of your booking ready.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Qatar immigration may ask where you're staying. Have a hotel confirmation or a letter from your host with their Qatari ID number ready. A printed copy works best.Recommended
Proof of funds
Sufficient cash or card for your stay
Officers rarely ask, but carry at least 2,000 QAR (~$550) in cash or have a credit card with available balance. ATMs at the airport dispense Qatari riyals.Recommended
Visa on arrival is automatic
No application, no fee, no appointment. Just show up with a valid passport and a return ticket. The whole process takes about 5 minutes at the airport.
Overstay fines are steep
Qatar charges QAR 200 (about €50) per day for overstaying. The fine is cumulative and must be paid before you can leave. Set a calendar reminder to avoid this.
