May be checked
Libyan passport holders can visit Gambia for tourism or business without a visa for up to 90 days. This policy is in effect for 2025. Just make sure your passport is valid and you have a return ticket.
Your passport must be valid for at least the length of your stay in Gambia. Airlines check this at check-in. Carry a photocopy of the bio-data page separately.
Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from Gambia
Immigration officers at Banjul International Airport routinely ask for a return or onward ticket. Have a printed copy or a digital version ready on your phone. Airlines also enforce this before boarding.
Recommended
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Carry a printed hotel reservation or a letter of invitation from your host. Immigration may ask where you are staying, especially if you arrive without a pre-booked hotel.
Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can support yourself during your stay
Have cash (US dollars or euros) or a bank statement showing sufficient funds. Gambia is a cash-based economy — credit cards are not widely accepted outside major hotels.

Visa-free entry is straightforward
No visa application, no fees, no forms. Just show up with a valid passport and return ticket. The 90-day stay is generous for most trips.
Passport validity is strictly enforced
Immigration officers check the 6-month validity from your arrival date. If your passport expires sooner, you will be refused entry. Renew before you go.
What happens at the border
1
Arrive at Banjul International Airport
You'll land at Banjul International Airport (BJL). Follow signs to immigration. There's usually one queue for all foreign visitors.
2
Present your passport and documents
Hand over your passport (valid 6+ months) and return ticket. The officer may ask your purpose of visit and where you're staying. Answer clearly.
3
Get your entry stamp
The officer will stamp your passport with a 90-day visa-free entry. Check the stamp says the correct date. That's it — no fee, no forms.
4
Collect luggage and exit
After immigration, collect your bags from the carousel, then proceed through customs. Green channel if nothing to declare.
