Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
eVisa application
Syria eVisa
Apply for a Syrian eVisa at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs portal before travel. The eVisa allows a single entry for tourism or business. Processing takes 3–5 working days, and you must print the approval letter to present at the border.Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
Libyan passport
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your intended departure date from Syria. Airlines at Mitiga and Benina airports enforce this strictly — you will be denied boarding if your passport expires sooner.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of onward travel
Immigration at Damascus and Aleppo airports asks for a confirmed return or onward ticket. Budget carriers like Cham Wings and Syrian Air check this at check-in. Have a printed itinerary ready.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Border officers may ask where you are staying. A hotel booking confirmation or a letter from a Syrian host with their contact details works. Keep a printed copy in your hand luggage.Recommended
Proof of funds
Cash or bank statement
Carry enough cash (USD or EUR) to cover your stay — Syria has limited ATM access and credit cards are rarely accepted outside major hotels. A bank statement showing at least $500 helps if asked.Recommended
eVisa required — no exceptions
Libyan passport holders cannot get a visa at the border. You must have an approved eVisa before you fly. Airlines may deny boarding without it.
Passport validity counts from entry date
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months after the day you enter Syria, not from when you apply or depart. Check your passport now.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for eVisa online
Go to the official Syrian eVisa portal (if available) or use an authorized service. Fill in your personal details, passport info, and travel dates. Upload a digital passport photo and a copy of your passport data page. Pay the fee online. Processing typically takes a few business days.
2
Receive eVisa approval
Once approved, you'll receive the eVisa as a PDF or confirmation email. Print a copy and also save it on your phone. Keep it with your passport.
3
Arrive at Syrian border
At Damascus International Airport or any land border crossing, proceed to immigration control. Present your passport, printed eVisa, return ticket, and accommodation confirmation. The officer will stamp your passport and let you through.
