Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
eVisa application
Apply before travel
Moroccan passport holders need an eVisa to enter Kenya. Apply at the official Kenya eTA portal at least 3 business days before departure. The eVisa costs $30 USD for single entry and is valid for 90 days from issue.Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
Must be valid for at least 6 months
Your passport must have at least 6 months of validity beyond your intended departure date from Kenya. Airlines check this at check-in — if your passport expires sooner, you will be denied boarding.Required
Return or onward ticket
Required for entry
Immigration officers at JKIA ask for a return or onward ticket before stamping you in. Have a printed or digital copy of your outbound flight reservation ready. Without one, you risk being denied entry.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Have a hotel reservation or a letter of invitation from your host in Kenya. Immigration may ask for it, especially if you arrive without a clear itinerary. A booking confirmation email works fine.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can support your stay
Carry bank statements or a credit card showing you have enough funds for your trip. Immigration rarely asks, but if they do, $500 USD equivalent is a safe minimum. Cash in USD is widely accepted at border counters.Recommended
Apply early — no visa on arrival
Kenya does not offer visa on arrival for Moroccan passport holders. You must get your e-Visa approved before you fly. Apply at least a week in advance to avoid last-minute stress.
Keep digital copies of everything
Save your e-Visa approval, return ticket, and accommodation confirmation as PDFs on your phone. Also print paper copies — phone batteries die, and some officers prefer paper.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for e-Visa online
Go to the official Kenya e-Visa website (etakenya.go.ke). Fill in your personal and passport details, upload a passport photo and a scan of your passport bio page. Pay the fee (around $30-$50 depending on visa type). Processing usually takes 2-5 business days. You'll receive an approval email — print it or save the PDF on your phone.
2
Pack your documents
Before you leave, gather: your passport (6+ months validity), printed e-Visa approval, return/onward ticket, and first night's accommodation confirmation. Keep them in your carry-on for easy access.
3
Arrive at JKIA or Moi International Airport
At immigration, join the 'Foreign Passports' queue. Hand over your passport and e-Visa approval. The officer may ask for your return ticket and accommodation. Answer clearly. They'll stamp your passport — check the stamp for the allowed stay (usually 30 or 90 days).
4
Collect luggage and exit
After immigration, head to baggage claim. Then proceed to customs — declare any large sums of cash or restricted items. Exit into the arrivals hall.
