Cash is king at the visa counter
The visa on arrival counter prefers US dollars or Sri Lankan rupees in cash. ATMs are available after you clear immigration, but you'll need the fee before that. Bring $50 USD in cash to be safe.

You can also apply for an ETA online before you fly. It's the same cost and validity, but you skip the visa counter queue. Apply at eta.gov.lk at least 24 hours before departure.

After landing, follow signs to 'Visa on Arrival' or 'Immigration'. You'll find the counter before the main passport control line.

Fill Out the Arrival Card
You'll get a small card on the plane or at the counter. Fill in your details, flight number, and accommodation address. Keep it with your passport.

Submit Documents and Pay
Hand over your passport, arrival card, return ticket (if asked), and the visa fee. The officer will process it — usually takes 5–10 minutes.
