Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
eVisa application
Apply online before travel
Apply for a Myanmar eVisa at the official Ministry of Immigration portal. Processing takes 3–5 working days, and you'll receive an approval letter via email. Print two copies — one for immigration and one for your airline check-in.Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
Must have at least 6 months validity
Your passport needs at least 6 months of validity beyond your intended departure date from Myanmar. Airlines check this strictly at check-in — if your passport expires sooner, you'll be denied boarding.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from Myanmar
Immigration officers at Yangon and Mandalay airports routinely ask for a confirmed onward ticket. Have a printed or digital copy of your flight itinerary showing you leave within your eVisa's validity period.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or invitation letter
Keep a printed hotel confirmation or a letter from your host in Myanmar. Immigration may ask for your first night's address during the arrival interview.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can support your stay
Carry at least $300 USD in cash or a credit card statement. Myanmar immigration rarely asks, but if they do, they expect to see enough for your planned duration.Recommended
Apply early — no rush option
The Myanmar e-Visa takes 3–5 business days to process. There is no expedited service. If you apply too close to your departure, you risk not getting approved in time.
Print your e-Visa approval
You must present a printed copy of your e-Visa approval letter at check-in and to immigration upon arrival. A digital copy on your phone is not accepted.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for e-Visa online
Go to the official Myanmar e-Visa website (evisa.moip.gov.mm). Fill in your details, upload a passport photo and a scan of your passport bio page. Pay the fee (around USD 50 for a tourist visa). Processing usually takes 3–5 business days.
2
Receive and print approval
Once approved, you'll get an email with your e-Visa approval letter. Print a copy — you'll need to show it at check-in and upon arrival in Myanmar.
3
Arrive at Myanmar airport
At Yangon, Mandalay, or Naypyidaw airport, proceed to immigration. Hand over your passport, printed e-Visa, and boarding pass. They'll stamp you in. Have your return ticket and hotel booking ready in case they ask.
