Kenya eVisa (eTA)
Apply for a Kenya eVisa (eTA) at the official eTA portal before travel. The application takes about 15 minutes and costs $30 USD. Approval usually comes within 2 business days — do not book non-refundable flights until you have the approval.Apply for eTARequired

Your passport must have at least 6 months of validity remaining from your date of entry into Kenya. Airlines check this at check-in — if your passport expires sooner, you will be denied boarding.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of onward travel
Immigration officers at JKIA routinely ask for a return or onward ticket. Have a printed copy or a screenshot ready on your phone. If you are overlanding out, show a bus or flight booking to the next country.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Have your first night's hotel confirmation or a letter of invitation from your host ready. Officers sometimes ask for it, especially if you arrive without a clear itinerary.Recommended
Proof of funds
Sufficient cash or card for your stay
Carry at least $500 USD equivalent in cash or have a credit/debit card with a visible balance. Immigration may ask how you plan to fund your trip, especially for longer stays.Recommended
No Visa on Arrival for Myanmar Passports
There is no visa-on-arrival option for Myanmar passport holders at Kenyan airports. You must apply for and receive an eVisa before you travel. Airlines will check this before you board.
eVisa Processing Time
Apply at least 7 days before your trip. Processing can take 2-3 business days, but delays happen. Don't wait until the last minute.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for eVisa Online
Go to the official Kenya eVisa website (etakenya.go.ke). Fill out the application form, upload a passport-style photo and a scan of your passport bio page. Pay the fee (around $51 USD for a single-entry tourist visa). Processing usually takes 2-3 business days, but apply at least a week before your trip.
2
Receive eVisa Approval
You'll get an email with your eVisa approval letter. Print a copy and save a PDF on your phone. The letter includes a QR code that immigration will scan.
3
Prepare Documents for Arrival
Before you land, have these ready: your passport, printed eVisa, return ticket confirmation, and first night's accommodation booking. Keep them in your carry-on, not checked luggage.
4
Arrive at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (NBO)
Most flights from Myanmar arrive at Nairobi's main airport. Follow signs to 'Immigration' or 'Passport Control'. Join the queue for 'Foreign Passports'. Have your documents ready. The officer will scan your eVisa, stamp your passport, and ask a few questions (purpose of visit, where you're staying, how long). Answer clearly and honestly.
5
Collect Luggage and Exit
After immigration, proceed to baggage claim. Then go through customs (green channel if nothing to declare). You're now in Kenya.
