What happens at the border

1
Apply for eVisa online
Go to the official Russian eVisa portal (evisa.kdmid.ru). Fill in your details, upload a passport photo and a scan of your passport bio page. Pay the fee (if any) and submit. Processing usually takes 4–20 calendar days.
2
Receive eVisa approval
Once approved, you'll get an email with your eVisa. Print it or save a copy on your phone. The eVisa is valid for a single entry and a maximum stay of 16 days.
3
Prepare documents for travel
Before your flight, gather: passport (6+ months validity), eVisa approval, return/onward ticket, first night accommodation confirmation, and travel insurance (if you have it).
4
Arrive at Russian immigration
At the airport, join the foreign passport queue. Hand over your passport and eVisa. The officer may ask for your return ticket and accommodation. Answer clearly. They'll stamp your passport with your entry date.
5
Complete migration card (if required)
Some entry points still use paper migration cards. Fill it out on the plane or at the counter. Keep the departure portion with your passport — you'll need it when leaving.
