Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
eVisa application
Apply before travel
Apply for a Myanmar eVisa at the official Ministry of Immigration portal. Processing takes 3–5 business days, and you'll receive an approval letter via email. Print two copies — one for the airline check-in counter and one for immigration at Yangon, Mandalay, or Naypyidaw airports.Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
Must have 6 months validity beyond your stay
Your Mexican passport needs at least 6 months of remaining validity from your date of entry into Myanmar. Airlines check this strictly at check-in — if your passport expires sooner, you'll be denied boarding.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from Myanmar
Immigration officers routinely ask for a confirmed onward or return flight out of Myanmar. Have a printed itinerary or e-ticket ready — they may refuse entry if you can't show you're leaving within your eVisa's validity period.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or invitation letter
Carry a printed hotel reservation or an invitation letter from your host in Myanmar. Immigration occasionally asks for this, especially if you're arriving without a pre-booked tour.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can support yourself
Have a bank statement or credit card showing at least $300–$500 available. Immigration rarely checks this for short tourist stays, but it's smart to have proof if asked.Recommended
Passport validity is strict
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the day you enter Myanmar. If it's close to expiring, renew it before applying for the eVisa — otherwise your application may be rejected.
Keep digital copies handy
Save your eVisa approval, return ticket, and hotel booking as screenshots on your phone. Internet can be patchy at immigration counters, and having offline copies speeds things up.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for the eVisa online
Go to the official Myanmar eVisa website (evisa.moip.gov.mm). Fill in your personal details, passport info, and travel dates. Upload a digital passport photo and a scan of your passport bio page. Pay the fee (around $50 USD for tourism) with a credit card. You'll receive a confirmation email.
2
Wait for approval
Processing usually takes 3 business days, but apply at least a week before your trip to be safe. You'll get an approval letter by email. Print it or save it on your phone.
3
Arrive at the airport in Myanmar
At Yangon, Mandalay, or Naypyidaw international airports, go to the immigration counter. Present your passport, eVisa approval (printed or digital), and return ticket. They may ask for your hotel address. The officer stamps your passport — you're in.
