Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
eVisa application
Apply before travel
You need an eVisa to enter Qatar. Apply through the Hukoomi portal at hukoomi.gov.qa — the process takes about 15 minutes and costs around QAR 200 (roughly $55 USD). Approval usually comes within 3–5 business days, so apply at least a week before your flight.Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
Must cover your entire stay
Your Mozambique passport must be valid for at least 6 months from your date of entry into Qatar. Immigration at Hamad International Airport checks this strictly — if your passport expires sooner, you will be denied boarding.Required
Return or onward ticket
Required for entry
Qatar Airways and immigration officers will ask for a confirmed onward or return ticket before you board. Have a printed copy or a screenshot of your booking ready — they check this at check-in and again at passport control.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Immigration may ask where you are staying. Have a hotel confirmation or a letter of invitation from your Qatari host ready. If staying with a friend, the host should register you via the Ministry of Interior's Metrash2 app before you arrive.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can support yourself
Officers rarely ask, but carry a bank statement or credit card showing you have at least QAR 3,000 (about $825 USD) for a short stay. If you look like you are traveling on a tight budget, they may request proof.Recommended
No visa on arrival for MZ passports
You must have an approved eVisa before you fly. Airlines will check this at check-in, and without it you will be denied boarding.
Passport validity counts from entry date
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the day you arrive in Qatar, not from when you leave. Double-check before applying.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for the eVisa online
Go to the Hukoomi eVisa portal, fill in your passport details, upload a digital photo, and pay the fee. Processing usually takes 2–5 business days. You'll receive the approved visa by email.
2
Pack your documents
Print or save offline copies of your eVisa approval, return ticket, hotel booking, and passport info page. Keep them together in your carry-on.
3
Arrive at Hamad International Airport (DOH)
Follow signs to 'Arrivals' and join the queue for passport control. Hand over your passport and eVisa printout (or show it on your phone). The officer may ask for your return ticket and hotel booking — have them ready.
4
Collect your luggage and exit
After passport control, proceed to baggage claim, then walk through customs (green channel if nothing to declare). You're free to enter Qatar.

Frequently asked questions

Typically 2 to 5 business days. Apply at least a week before your flight to be safe. You'll get the approved visa by email.
No. There is no visa on arrival for Mozambique passport holders. You must have an approved eVisa before you board your flight.
The official fee varies by nationality and visa type. Check the Hukoomi portal during your application — it will show the exact amount before you pay.
Not strictly — a digital copy on your phone is usually accepted. But having a printed backup avoids any hassle if your phone battery dies or the screen is hard to read.
Renew your passport first. The 6-month validity is calculated from your date of arrival in Qatar, not your departure. If your passport doesn't meet this, your eVisa application will be rejected.
The standard eVisa does not allow extensions. If you need a longer stay, you'll have to apply for a different visa type before you travel.
It is not a mandatory requirement for the visa application, but it is strongly recommended. Medical costs in Qatar are high, and insurance covers you for accidents or illness.
