Nigerian passport holders need a visa to enter Morocco in 2026. You must apply before you travel — there is no visa on arrival for Nigerian citizens. Plan ahead, as processing can take a couple of weeks.

Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Visa application
Visa required
You need a visa before traveling to Morocco. Apply at the Moroccan embassy or consulate in your home country — there is no eVisa for Nigerian passport holders. Processing takes 5–10 working days; expect to submit a passport photo, flight itinerary, and hotel booking.Apply for visaRequired
Valid passport
Must have 6 months validity beyond your stay
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from your date of entry into Morocco. Airlines check this at check-in — if your passport expires sooner, you will be denied boarding.Required
Return or onward ticket
Required
Immigration officers at Casablanca and Marrakech airports routinely ask for proof of onward travel. Have a printed or digital copy of your return flight or a ticket to your next destination ready.Required
Proof of accommodation
Recommended
Hotel booking confirmations or a letter of invitation from your host in Morocco can speed up the visa application and satisfy immigration if asked. Keep a copy on your phone or printed.Recommended
Proof of funds
Recommended
Carry enough cash or a credit card to cover your stay — around 500 MAD per day is a safe benchmark. Immigration rarely asks, but having it ready avoids delays.Recommended
No visa on arrival — apply well in advance
Nigerian passport holders cannot get a visa at the airport. You must apply before you travel. Start the process at least 4 weeks before your trip to avoid last-minute stress.
Keep digital copies of everything
Save photos of your passport, visa, return ticket, and hotel booking on your phone and in the cloud. If you lose your documents, this makes replacement much easier.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for a visa at the Moroccan embassy or consulate
Submit your application in person at the Moroccan Embassy in Abuja or the Consulate in Lagos. You'll need to book an appointment first — check their website or call. Bring all required documents, pay the fee, and wait for processing (typically 1–3 weeks).
2
Pack your documents for travel
Before you fly, print or save digital copies of your visa approval, passport, return ticket, hotel booking, and insurance. Keep them in a separate folder from your passport.
3
Arrive at a Moroccan airport and go through immigration
At Casablanca (CMN), Marrakech (RAK), or any other entry point, join the 'Foreign Passports' queue. Hand over your passport with the visa sticker. The officer may ask for your return ticket and hotel address. Answer clearly and calmly. You'll get an entry stamp — check the date is correct.

Frequently asked questions

No. There is no visa on arrival for Nigerian citizens. You must obtain a visa before you travel, either online (if e-visa is available) or from the Moroccan embassy in Abuja or consulate in Lagos.
Processing typically takes 1 to 3 weeks, but can be longer during peak travel seasons. Apply at least a month before your planned departure to be safe.
The visa fee varies — check the Moroccan embassy's website for the current amount. Expect to pay around ₦30,000–₦50,000 (roughly $40–$70) for a single-entry visa. Fees are non-refundable if your application is rejected.
You'll need a passport valid for 6+ months beyond entry, completed application form, passport-sized photos, return flight booking, hotel reservation, bank statements (last 3 months), and travel insurance. The embassy may request additional documents like a letter of invitation or employment letter.
Extensions are not generally granted for tourist visas. You would need to leave and re-enter, or apply for a different visa type before your current one expires. Overstaying can result in fines or a ban.
You will be denied entry and sent back on the next available flight. The airline may also fine you for not having proper documentation. Always have your visa approved before you travel.
Morocco does not require a yellow fever certificate for entry from Nigeria, but it's recommended to have it anyway — some other countries may ask for it if you travel onward. Check with your doctor.
