Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Valid passport
Must be valid for the entire stay
Your Norwegian passport needs to be valid for the entire time you're in Liechtenstein. Since Liechtenstein is in the Schengen zone, the 90/180-day rule applies — you can stay up to 90 days within any 180-day period across all Schengen countries.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from Schengen area
Immigration officers at the border may ask for a return or onward ticket showing you'll leave the Schengen zone within your 90-day visa-free limit. Have a printed or digital copy ready — airlines sometimes check this before boarding.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Carry a hotel confirmation, rental agreement, or a signed letter from your host in Liechtenstein. Border officers rarely ask for it, but having it ready avoids delays.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can support yourself
Have a bank statement, credit card, or cash showing you have enough money for your stay. No fixed amount is published for Liechtenstein, but €50–100 per day is a safe benchmark.Recommended
Schengen area rules apply
Liechtenstein is part of the Schengen Area. Your 90-day visa-free stay counts against the same 90/180-day rule used for all Schengen countries. Keep track of your days if you've visited other Schengen states recently.
No airport in Liechtenstein
You will enter through a Schengen airport (usually Zurich). Border checks happen there, not at the Liechtenstein border. Make sure your passport is stamped on entry — without it, proving your legal stay can be difficult.

What happens at the border

1
Arrive at the border
Liechtenstein does not have its own airport. You'll fly into Zurich Airport (Switzerland) or another Schengen airport, then take a train or drive to Liechtenstein. Border checks are rare between Switzerland and Liechtenstein, but you may encounter Swiss immigration at the airport.
2
Present your passport
At passport control, hand over your Norwegian passport. The officer will check your validity and may ask about your trip duration and accommodation. Answer clearly and briefly.
3
Show supporting documents if asked
If requested, show your return ticket, accommodation booking, and proof of funds. Have them ready on your phone or printed. Most Norwegian travellers are waved through without extra questions.
4
Receive entry stamp
The officer will stamp your passport with the entry date. This stamp records the start of your 90-day Schengen stay. Keep the stamp visible — you'll need it for your exit.
5
Collect luggage and proceed
After passport control, collect your bags and head to the exit. From Zurich Airport, trains to Liechtenstein run regularly from the main station.
