Norwegian passport holders need a visa to enter Pakistan in 2026. You must apply online through the official visa portal before you travel — there are no visa-on-arrival options for Norwegian citizens.

Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
eVisa application
Apply online before travel
Apply for a Pakistan tourist eVisa at visa.nadra.gov.pk. Processing takes 7–10 working days, and you need a scanned passport photo and passport data page. Print the approval letter and carry it with your passport to the border.Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
Must be valid for entire stay
Your Norwegian passport must be valid for at least the full duration of your stay in Pakistan. No 6-month rule applies for Norwegian citizens, but airlines may still check for 6 months validity — confirm with your carrier before flying.Required
Return or onward ticket
Required for entry
Immigration officers at Pakistani airports routinely ask for a confirmed return or onward ticket. Have a printed copy or a digital version on your phone ready to show.Required
Proof of accommodation
Recommended to carry
While not always checked, having a hotel booking confirmation or an invitation letter from a host speeds up the immigration process. Keep a printed copy or a screenshot on your phone.Recommended
Proof of funds
Recommended to carry
Officers may ask how you'll support yourself during your stay. Carry a bank statement or a credit card showing at least $200–$300 for shorter trips. Cash in USD or PKR is also accepted.Recommended
No visa on arrival for Norwegians
Despite some outdated online sources, Norwegian passport holders cannot get a visa on arrival in Pakistan. You must have an approved e-visa or embassy visa before you board your flight.
Register with your embassy
It's a good idea to register your trip with the Norwegian embassy in Islamabad (or via the UD reiseplanlegger app). They can help if you lose your passport or have an emergency.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for your visa online
Go to visa.nadra.gov.pk, create an account, fill in the application form, upload your passport photo and passport scan, and pay the fee. Processing takes 3–7 business days for a tourist visa.
2
Print your visa approval
Once approved, you'll receive an e-visa PDF. Print at least one copy and save a digital version on your phone. You'll need to show it at check-in and on arrival.
3
Prepare your documents for arrival
At Islamabad or Karachi airport, join the 'Foreigners' queue. Have your passport, visa printout, return ticket, and hotel booking ready. The officer may ask your purpose of visit and where you'll stay.
4
Get a local SIM or eSIM
After clearing immigration, you can buy a SIM at the airport (e.g., Jazz or Zong) with your passport. Alternatively, install an Airalo eSIM before you land — it activates immediately.
