Apply before travel

Valid passport
Must cover entire stay
Your passport must be valid for the full duration of your stay in Azerbaijan. No minimum validity beyond departure is required by law, but airlines may enforce 6 months — check with your carrier before flying.Required
Return or onward ticket
Required for entry
Immigration officers at Baku Airport routinely ask for proof of onward travel. Have a printed or digital copy of your return or onward ticket ready.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or invitation letter
You may be asked to show a hotel reservation or a letter of invitation from your host in Azerbaijan. Keep a copy on your phone or printed.Recommended
Proof of funds
Bank statement or cash
Officers can request evidence you can support yourself during your stay. Carry a recent bank statement or enough cash (around $50 USD per day) to cover expenses.Recommended
Passport validity is strictly enforced
Your passport must be valid for at least 3 months beyond your departure date from Azerbaijan. Airlines check this at check-in — if your passport expires sooner, you will be denied boarding. Count from the day you leave, not the day you arrive.
Registration required if staying more than 15 days
If you stay longer than 15 days, your hotel or host must register you with the State Migration Service within 15 days of arrival. If staying in a private residence, you must register yourself at the local migration office. Failure to register can result in fines or deportation.
eVisa is straightforward and cheap
The eVisa costs only $20 USD and takes 3 working days to process. Apply online at evisa.gov.az. Print the PDF or save it on your phone — either is accepted at immigration.
