What happens at the border

1
Apply for the eVisa online
Go to the official Myanmar eVisa website (evisa.moip.gov.mm). Fill in your personal details, passport info, travel dates, and upload a passport-style photo. Pay the fee (around $50 USD for tourism) with a credit or debit card. Processing usually takes 3–5 business days.
2
Receive and print your eVisa
Check your email (including spam folder) for the eVisa approval. Print it out in colour or black and white — the barcode must be clear. Keep it with your passport.
3
Arrive at Yangon, Mandalay, or Naypyidaw airport
The eVisa is only valid for entry at these three international airports. When you land, go to the immigration counter. Hand over your passport, printed eVisa, and boarding pass. You may be asked for your return ticket and hotel booking.
4
Get your passport stamped
The immigration officer will stamp your passport with a visa sticker. Check that the stamp shows the correct entry date and the allowed stay (usually 28 days). Keep the stamp safe — you'll need it when you leave.
5
Exit Myanmar
When you leave, present your passport with the visa stamp at immigration. Make sure you haven't overstayed — overstays can result in fines of $3 USD per day and possible detention.
