Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Valid passport
Must be valid for the duration of your stay
Your passport needs to be valid for at least 3 months beyond your intended departure date from Uzbekistan. Airlines check this at check-in — if your passport expires sooner, you will be denied boarding.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from Uzbekistan
Immigration officers at Tashkent International Airport routinely ask for a confirmed onward or return ticket. Have a printed copy or a screenshot of your booking ready — they will check the date matches your visa-free stay limit.Recommended
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Carry a printed hotel reservation or a letter of invitation from your host in Uzbekistan. Officers at the border may ask where you are staying — having the address and contact number ready avoids delays.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can support yourself during your stay
Have access to at least $100 USD per day of your stay, either in cash or on a card you can withdraw from. Immigration rarely checks this for Portuguese passport holders, but it is better to have bank statements or a credit card ready.Recommended
Passport validity is strictly enforced
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the date you enter Uzbekistan. Airlines check this before boarding. If your passport expires sooner, you'll be denied boarding, not just entry.
No visa needed, but keep documents handy
You don't need to apply for anything before travel. Just show up with your passport, return ticket, and accommodation details. Immigration at Tashkent airport is efficient, expect 2-5 minutes per person.

What happens at the border

1
Arrival at Tashkent International Airport or other border
After landing, follow signs to 'Passport Control'. Join the queue for foreign passports. Have your passport and boarding pass ready. The officer will check your passport validity, ask your purpose of visit, and may request your return ticket. They'll stamp you in, usually taking 2-5 minutes.
2
Complete the migration card if required
Some land borders still issue a small paper migration card. Fill it in with your name, passport number, and address in Uzbekistan. Keep the departure portion safe, as you'll hand it back when leaving. At Tashkent airport, this is often electronic now.
3
Collect luggage and exit
After passport control, proceed to baggage claim. Then walk through the green channel if you have nothing to declare. No customs form is needed for most tourists.
