Portuguese passport holders can enter Kosovo without a visa for stays up to 90 days. This has been the case since Kosovo unilaterally introduced visa-free travel for EU/Schengen citizens. As of 2026, the rules remain unchanged — just make sure your passport is valid for at least 6 months from your arrival date.

Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Valid passport
Must be valid for the duration of your stay
Your passport needs to be valid for the entire time you plan to stay in Kosovo. No minimum validity beyond your departure date is required, but airlines may enforce their own rules.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from Kosovo
Immigration officers at Pristina International Airport routinely ask for proof of onward travel. Have a printed or digital copy of your return flight or a ticket to your next destination ready.Recommended
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Border officers may ask where you're staying. A hotel confirmation email or a letter from your host with their address and contact number is enough.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can support yourself
Officers can ask for evidence of sufficient funds. Carry a bank statement or credit card showing access to at least €100 per day of your stay.Recommended
Passport validity is strictly enforced
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the day you enter Kosovo. If it expires sooner, you will be denied entry — no exceptions. Check your passport expiry date before booking flights.
Overstaying the 90-day limit
Overstaying even by a day can result in a fine (around €50–€100) and a possible entry ban. Set a reminder to leave before day 90.

What happens at the border

1
Arrive at Pristina International Airport (or land border)
At Pristina Airport (PRN), follow signs to 'Passport Control' for non-Kosovo citizens. The queue is usually short. Have your passport and return ticket ready. The officer will check your passport validity and may ask about your plans.
2
Present your passport and supporting documents
Hand over your passport. If asked, show your return ticket and accommodation booking. The officer will stamp your passport with a 90-day entry stamp. No visa fee is charged.
3
Collect your luggage and exit
After passport control, proceed to baggage claim (if you checked bags), then walk through the green 'Nothing to Declare' channel if you have no goods to declare. You're now in Kosovo.
