Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
eVisa application
Apply before travel
You need an eVisa to enter Gabon. Apply at the official Gabon eVisa portal at least 72 hours before departure. The application asks for a scanned passport photo, passport data page, and flight itinerary. Approval comes by email as a PDF — print two copies and keep one in your carry-on.Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
Must be valid for the duration of stay
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your planned departure date from Gabon. Immigration at Libreville International Airport checks this strictly — if your passport expires sooner, you will be denied boarding in Doha.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from Gabon
Immigration officers routinely ask for a confirmed onward or return ticket. A printed itinerary or an e-ticket on your phone works. Without one, you may be refused entry and put on the next flight back to Doha.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Have a hotel confirmation or a letter of invitation from your host in Gabon ready. Immigration may ask for it at the counter. A simple booking.com PDF or a signed letter with the host's contact details is enough.Recommended
Proof of funds
Bank statement or cash
Carry a recent bank statement showing at least $500 USD equivalent, or have cash in euros or CFA francs. Immigration rarely checks, but if they do, you need to show you can cover your stay.Recommended
Yellow fever vaccine is mandatory
You must show a valid yellow fever vaccination certificate at immigration. Without it, you may be denied entry or forced to get vaccinated on the spot at your own expense.
Keep digital copies of everything
Save your eVisa, passport, return ticket, and accommodation confirmation as PDFs on your phone and in cloud storage. Internet can be patchy — offline access is a lifesaver.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for the eVisa online
Go to https://evisa.gouv.ga/ and fill out the application. You'll need a digital photo, passport scan, and travel details. Processing usually takes 3–7 business days. Pay the fee online with a credit card.
2
Wait for approval and print the eVisa
Once approved, you'll receive the eVisa by email. Print a copy and also save it on your phone. Keep it with your passport.
3
Prepare your documents for departure
Before heading to the airport, double-check: passport validity (6+ months), printed eVisa, return ticket, accommodation booking, and travel insurance. Screenshot everything on your phone as backup.
4
Arrive at Libreville International Airport (LBV)
At immigration, present your passport and eVisa. The officer may ask for your return ticket and accommodation. Answer clearly. The process is usually straightforward — expect 10–20 minutes.
