Apply early — processing can be slow

Visa-free transit?
If you are transiting through an Irish airport (e.g., Dublin) to a non-UK destination, you still need a visa unless you are a visa-exempt national. Qataris are not exempt — you need a transit visa even if you don't leave the airport.

Apply for the visa online
Go to the Irish visa website (visas.inis.gov.ie) and complete the online application form. Select 'Short Stay Visa' for tourism or business. Pay the fee online (€80 for a single-entry visa, €100 for multiple-entry).

Submit documents at VFS Global
After submitting online, book an appointment at the VFS Global centre in Doha. Bring your printed application, passport, photo, flight itinerary, hotel booking, bank statements (last 3 months), and travel insurance. Biometrics (fingerprints and photo) are taken on the spot.

Wait for processing
Processing typically takes 15 working days, but can take longer during peak season (May–August). You'll receive an email when a decision is made. Track your application online using the reference number.

Collect your passport
Once approved, collect your passport from the VFS centre or have it couriered to you. Check the visa sticker for correct dates and conditions.

Arrive in Ireland
At Dublin Airport (or Shannon/Cork), join the 'Non-EU' queue. Have your passport, visa, return ticket, and accommodation proof ready. The immigration officer may ask about your plans — answer clearly and briefly.
