Cash is king at the visa counter
The visa-on-arrival counter at Muscat airport prefers cash (OMR or USD). Credit cards are not always accepted. Bring 20 OMR or ~$52 USD in cash to avoid delays.
eVisa saves time
Applying for an eVisa online before you travel costs the same as the visa on arrival but lets you skip the queue at the airport. Process it at evisa.rop.gov.om — it takes 1–3 business days.

Land at Muscat or Salalah airport
Follow signs to 'Visa on Arrival' counters before passport control. These are clearly marked. At Muscat, the queue moves fast — expect 10–20 minutes.

Pay the visa fee
Hand over 20 OMR (~$52 USD) in cash. They'll give you a receipt and stamp your passport. Keep the receipt — you may need it when leaving.

Proceed to passport control
Show your passport with the new visa stamp, your return ticket (printed or on phone), and answer any questions about your stay. They rarely ask for hotel bookings or funds.

Collect your luggage and exit
After passport control, head to baggage claim, then customs. There are no additional checks for tourists. Total time from landing to exit: 30–45 minutes.
