Apply early — slots fill fast
The Spanish consulate in Kigali has limited appointment slots, especially during peak travel seasons (June–September, December). Book your appointment at least 4–6 weeks in advance. Do not buy non-refundable flights or accommodation until your visa is approved.

Submit your application in person
Go to your appointment with all original documents plus photocopies. You'll be fingerprinted (biometric data) and pay the visa fee. The standard Schengen visa fee is about €80 for adults, less for children.

Wait for processing
Processing typically takes 15 calendar days, but can extend to 30 or even 45 days during peak season. Do not book non-refundable flights until you have the visa.

Once a decision is made, you'll be notified to pick up your passport. If approved, the visa sticker will be inside — check the dates and number of entries are correct.
