Iceland entry requirements for Sweden passport holders
Swedish passport holders can travel to Iceland visa-free for any purpose, including tourism and business, for up to 90 days in any 180-day period. No visa is required — just your valid passport and proof of onward travel. Iceland is part of the Schengen Area, so the same rules apply as for any other Schengen country.
Entry requirements
| Requirement | Details | Status |
|---|---|---|
| Valid passport Must be valid for the duration of your stay | Your Swedish passport needs to be valid only for the time you plan to stay in Iceland. Airlines rarely check the 6-month rule for Iceland, but carry a passport that won't expire during your trip. | Required |
| Return or onward ticket Proof of departure from the Schengen area | Icelandic border officers routinely ask for a return or onward ticket showing you'll leave the Schengen zone within 90 days. Have a printed or digital copy ready — budget airlines sometimes check this before boarding. | Required |
| Proof of accommodation Hotel booking or host invitation | Immigration may ask where you're staying, especially if you arrive without a clear itinerary. A hotel confirmation or a letter from your host with their address works fine. | Recommended |
| Proof of funds Show you can support yourself during your stay | Officers can request evidence of sufficient funds — roughly 8,000 ISK per day (about €55). A bank statement or credit card with available limit usually satisfies them. | Recommended |
