Extreme security risk

Apply for the e-visa online
Go to the official Afghan e-visa portal (evisa.mfa.af). Create an account, fill in your personal details, upload your passport scan and photo, and pay the fee (around $100 for a single-entry tourist visa). Processing typically takes 5–10 business days, but can take longer — apply at least 3 weeks before travel.

Receive and print your e-visa
Once approved, you'll get an email with a PDF. Print at least two copies — one for your records, one to show at the airport. Keep a digital copy on your phone as backup.

Check in and board
At the airline check-in counter, present your passport and printed e-visa. The airline will verify your visa before issuing a boarding pass. Without it, you won't be allowed to fly.

Arrive at Kabul International Airport
After landing, follow signs to 'Visa' or 'Immigration'. Join the queue, hand over your passport and e-visa, and have your fingerprints and photo taken. The officer will stamp your passport with your entry date and allowed stay (usually 30 days). Keep the stamp intact — you'll need it for departure.
