Slovak passport holders need a visa to enter Kenya in 2026. You must apply for an eTA (Electronic Travel Authorization) online before you travel — it's a straightforward process that replaces the old visa-on-arrival system. Plan ahead: approval can take a few days, so don't leave it until the last minute.

Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
eVisa application
Kenya eVisa
Apply for a Kenya eVisa at the official eTA portal before departure. The application takes about 15 minutes and requires a passport scan, recent photo, and flight itinerary. Processing usually takes 2–3 business days, so apply at least a week before travel.Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
Must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your intended departure date from Kenya
Your Slovak passport must have at least 6 months of validity remaining from the date you plan to leave Kenya. Immigration officers at JKIA check this strictly — if your passport expires sooner, you will be denied boarding.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of onward travel
You need a confirmed return or onward ticket showing you will leave Kenya before your visa expires. Airlines at Bratislava and connecting hubs check this before issuing a boarding pass.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Have a printed or digital hotel booking confirmation for your entire stay. If staying with friends or family, carry their contact details and address — immigration may ask for it.Recommended
Proof of funds
Sufficient cash or bank statement
Carry at least $500 USD in cash or have a bank statement showing sufficient funds for your stay. Immigration rarely asks, but budget airlines sometimes check at check-in.Recommended
Apply for eTA early
Don't wait until the day before your flight. Approval can take up to a week during peak travel seasons. Apply at least 2 weeks in advance to be safe.
Keep digital copies
Save your eTA, passport, and booking confirmations as PDFs on your phone and in cloud storage. If you lose your phone, you'll still have access.
eSIM saves time
Buy an Airalo eSIM before you travel. It activates the moment you land — no need to queue at the airport for a local SIM. You'll have data for maps, ride-hailing, and messaging immediately.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for eTA online
Go to the official Kenyan eTA website (etakenya.go.ke). Fill in your personal details, passport info, travel dates, and accommodation. Upload a passport-style photo and a copy of your passport bio page. Pay the fee (around $30 USD) with a credit card. Approval usually comes within 1–3 business days, but can take up to a week during busy periods.
2
Pack your documents
Print or save digital copies of your approved eTA, passport, return ticket, and accommodation confirmation. Keep them in a folder on your phone or in your carry-on. You'll need to show the eTA at check-in and upon arrival.
3
Arrive at JKIA (Nairobi) or Moi (Mombasa)
After landing, follow signs to 'Immigration' or 'Visitors'. Join the queue for 'Foreign Passports'. Hand over your passport, eTA printout (or show on phone), and return ticket if asked. The officer will take your photo and fingerprints, then stamp you in. The whole process usually takes 15–30 minutes.
4
Collect luggage and exit
After immigration, head to baggage claim, then customs. If you have nothing to declare, walk through the green channel. Outside, you'll find taxis, ride-hailing pickups, and shuttle buses.
