Visa on arrival is straightforward — no need to apply in advance
Just show up at Kigali airport or any major land border with your passport, USD 50, and a return ticket. The whole process takes 10-15 minutes. If you prefer to skip the queue, you can apply for an e-visa online before you go.
Passport validity is strictly enforced
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the date you enter Rwanda. Airlines check this before boarding, and immigration checks it on arrival. If your passport expires sooner, you'll be denied entry — no exceptions.

After deplaning, follow signs to 'Visa on Arrival' or 'Immigration'. The counter is before passport control.

Fill out the visa application form
A short paper form asking for your name, passport number, flight details, and accommodation address. You can also fill it online in advance (Rwandan e-visa portal) but it's not required.

Pay the visa fee
Hand over USD 50 (cash or card). Keep the receipt. If you don't have USD, the counter accepts Rwandan francs at the official exchange rate.
