Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Valid passport
Must be valid for the duration of your stay
Your passport needs to be valid for the entire time you plan to be in Tonga. No minimum validity beyond your stay is required by Tongan immigration, but some airlines may enforce a 6-month rule — check with your carrier before departure.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from Tonga
Immigration officers at Fuaʻamotu International Airport routinely ask for a confirmed onward or return ticket. Have a printed copy or a clear digital version on your phone ready to show.Recommended
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Carry a printed or digital copy of your hotel reservation or a letter of invitation from your host. Officers rarely ask for it, but having it avoids delays if they do.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can support yourself during the stay
Have access to at least 200 TOP (approx. $85 USD) per day of your stay. A bank statement or credit card is usually sufficient — officers rarely check, but be prepared.Recommended
Passport validity is strictly enforced
Airlines check this before you board. If your passport has less than 6 months validity from your arrival date, you will not be allowed to fly. Double-check your passport now.
No visa needed, but be prepared
Even though you don't need a visa, immigration may still ask for your return ticket and accommodation. Have them ready on your phone or printed.
