Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
eVisa application
Apply before travel
Tunisian passport holders need an eVisa to enter Cuba. Apply at the Cuba Ministry of Foreign Affairs portal — processing takes a few business days. Print the approval letter and carry it with your passport.Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
Must cover your entire stay
Your passport must be valid for the full duration of your stay in Cuba. No minimum validity beyond departure is required by Cuban immigration, but airlines may enforce 6 months — check with your carrier before flying.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure
Cuban immigration officers routinely ask for a return or onward ticket at the border. Have a printed or digital copy of your outbound flight booking ready. Without one, you may be denied boarding or entry.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel or casa particular booking
Immigration may ask where you're staying. Have a hotel reservation or a casa particular (private homestay) address and contact number ready. A printed booking confirmation works best.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can support yourself
Carry proof of sufficient funds for your stay — around 50 CUC per day (roughly $50 USD) is a common benchmark. A bank statement, credit card, or cash in euros or USD works. Cuban officials rarely ask, but it's safer to have it.Recommended
eVisa is mandatory — no exceptions
Tunisian passport holders cannot enter Cuba without an approved eVisa. There is no visa-on-arrival or visa waiver. Apply well in advance and carry a printed copy.
Keep digital copies of everything
Save your eVisa PDF, flight itinerary, hotel booking, and insurance certificate on your phone. Wi-Fi in Cuba is limited, so having offline access is a lifesaver.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for the eVisa online
Go to the official Cuban eVisa portal (or your airline's recommended site). Fill in your personal details, passport info, travel dates, and accommodation. Upload a digital passport photo. Pay the fee (typically around $50–$80 USD, depending on your nationality). Submit and wait for approval — usually 3–7 business days.
2
Print your eVisa and pack your documents
Once approved, you'll receive a PDF. Print at least one copy and save a digital backup on your phone. Also print your flight itinerary, hotel booking, and travel insurance certificate. Keep them all together in a folder.
3
At the departure airport
At Tunis-Carthage or any connecting airport, the check-in agent will ask for your eVisa, passport, and return ticket. Show the printed eVisa. They may also ask for your hotel booking. Boarding won't be issued without these.
4
Arrival at Havana (HAV) or other Cuban airport
After landing, follow signs to Immigration. Join the queue for foreign visitors. Hand over your passport, printed eVisa, and completed arrival card (you'll get this on the plane). The officer may ask a few questions — where you're staying, how long, your return flight. Answer clearly. They'll stamp your passport and you're in.
