Passport validity counts from entry, not departure

What happens at the border

Apply online
Go to gov.uk/apply-uk-visa, create an account, and fill out the Standard Visitor visa form. You'll need your passport details, travel dates, and accommodation info.

Book biometric appointment
After submitting, you'll be directed to book an appointment at the Visa Application Centre in Taipei (operated by TLScontact). Bring your printed application, passport, and appointment confirmation.

Attend appointment and submit documents
At the centre, you'll give fingerprints and a digital photo. You can also submit supporting documents (bank statements, flight bookings, accommodation). They'll keep your passport during processing.

Wait for decision
Standard processing takes about 3 weeks. You'll get an email when a decision is made. Your passport will be returned with the visa vignette inside.

Travel and enter the UK
At UK border control (e.g., Heathrow, Gatwick), present your passport with the vignette. An officer may ask about your plans — have your return ticket and accommodation details ready.
