Cape Verde entry requirements for Tanzania passport holders
Tanzanian passport holders can get a visa on arrival in Cape Verde. Pay the fee in cash at Sal or Praia airport and get stamped in. No pre-travel application needed — just bring the right documents and cash.
Entry requirements
| Requirement | Details | Status |
|---|---|---|
| Visa on arrival Visa on arrival at Cape Verde airports | Tanzanian passport holders can get a visa on arrival at Amílcar Cabral International Airport (Sal) and Nelson Mandela International Airport (Praia). Have 3,400 CVE (about $35 USD) in cash ready — the visa desk does not accept cards. You also need a printed hotel reservation and return ticket to show at the visa counter.Apply online | Required |
| Valid passport Must be valid for the duration of stay | Your passport needs at least one blank page for the visa sticker. Cape Verde does not require 6 months of validity beyond your departure date — just cover your stay. Airlines may still enforce 6 months, so check with your carrier before flying. | Required |
| Return or onward ticket Proof of departure from Cape Verde | Immigration officers at Sal and Praia airports always ask for a confirmed onward ticket. Have a printed copy or a screenshot ready on your phone. If you plan to overland to another island, a domestic flight booking also works. | Required |
| Proof of accommodation Hotel booking or invitation letter | Carry a printed hotel confirmation for your entire stay. If staying with friends, get a notarized invitation letter from your host. Hostels and guesthouses in Mindelo and Praia often email confirmations — print those too. | Recommended |
| Proof of funds Show you can support yourself | Officers rarely ask for bank statements, but have a recent statement or cash equivalent to 15,000 CVE (about $150 USD) per day of stay. ATMs in Sal and Praia dispense CVE, but backup cash in euros or USD is safer. | Recommended |

Answer 6 quick questions — we'll estimate how likely you are to be approved for entry based on typical immigration patterns.
Transiting through Cape Verde
Tanzania passport holders transiting through Cape Verde (e.g., at Amílcar Cabral International Airport) do not need a transit visa if staying airside and not passing immigration. However, if you need to leave the transit area or stay overnight, a visa on arrival is required.
- Holders of a valid US, Schengen, or UK visa may transit without visa for up to 48 hours.
Health & vaccines for Cape Verde
