Visa on arrival
Visa on arrival at Cape Verde airports
Get your visa on arrival at Sal, Boa Vista, São Vicente, and Praia airports. Pay in cash (EUR or CVE) — around €25–€40 depending on nationality. Have a printed copy of your hotel booking and return ticket ready, as the visa officer may ask to see them before stamping.Check eVisa optionRequired
Valid passport
Must be valid for the duration of stay
Your passport must be valid for at least the length of your stay in Cape Verde. No 6-month rule applies here — just make sure it doesn't expire before you leave. Airlines check this at check-in.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from Cape Verde
Immigration officers routinely ask for a confirmed onward or return ticket. Without one, you may be denied boarding or entry. A flight booking or bus/ferry ticket out of the country works.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Have a printed hotel reservation or a letter of invitation from your host. Immigration may ask for it at the counter, especially if you're arriving without a pre-arranged tour package.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can support yourself
Carry at least €100–€150 in cash or have a credit card statement ready. Officers rarely ask, but it's a formal requirement for entry. ATMs are available at the airport but not always reliable.Recommended
Cash only at immigration
The visa on arrival fee must be paid in cash (Euros or Cape Verdean escudos). ATMs are available after immigration, but not before. Bring enough Euros to cover the fee and any immediate expenses.
No e-visa available
Cape Verde does not offer an e-visa for Ukrainian passport holders. You must get the visa on arrival at the airport. No need to apply in advance.

What happens at the border

1
Arrive at immigration
After landing at Amílcar Cabral International Airport (Sal) or Nelson Mandela International Airport (Praia), follow signs to 'Visa on Arrival' or 'Immigration'. There's usually a separate queue.
2
Present documents and pay
Hand over your passport, return ticket (screenshot is fine), and accommodation booking. Pay the visa fee in cash (Euros preferred). The officer will process your visa sticker.
3
Receive visa and enter
Once the sticker is in your passport, you'll be stamped in. Keep the receipt if given. You're now cleared to enter Cape Verde.
