Mongolia entry requirements for Uganda passport holders
Ugandan passport holders need an eVisa to travel to Mongolia. You apply entirely online before you travel. As of 2026, this is the only way to get a visa for tourism or business visits.
Entry requirements
| Requirement | Details | Status |
|---|---|---|
| eVisa application Apply before travel | You need an eVisa to enter Mongolia. Apply at evisa.mn — the official government portal. Processing takes 3–5 business days, and you'll receive the approved visa by email. Print two copies: one for the airline check-in counter and one for immigration at Chinggis Khaan International Airport.Apply for eVisa | Required |
| Valid passport Must be valid for the entire stay | Your Ugandan passport must be valid for at least the full duration of your stay in Mongolia. Airlines at Entebbe may ask for 6 months validity — check with your carrier before departure. Carry a photocopy of the biodata page separately. | Required |
| Return or onward ticket Required for entry | Immigration officers at Ulaanbaatar will ask for proof of onward travel. Have a printed or digital copy of your return flight or a ticket to your next destination ready. Without it, you may be denied boarding in Entebbe or refused entry on arrival. | Required |
| Proof of accommodation Recommended to carry | Hotel bookings or a letter of invitation from a host in Mongolia can speed up immigration. Officers rarely ask for it, but having a printed confirmation avoids delays. If staying with friends, ask them to write a simple invitation letter with their address and phone number. | Recommended |
| Proof of funds Recommended to carry | Carry evidence of sufficient funds — around $50–$100 USD per day of your stay. A recent bank statement or a credit card with a decent limit works. Immigration at Ulaanbaatar rarely checks, but budget airlines may ask at check-in. | Recommended |

Health & vaccines for Mongolia
Mongolia's high altitude (especially Ulaanbaatar at 1,350m) can cause symptoms; acclimatize gradually.
Contaminated food and water can cause traveler's diarrhea; drink bottled water and eat well-cooked food.
Rare but present in rural areas; consider vaccination if hiking in forests.
Based on CDC and WHO guidance. Consult a travel medicine clinic 4–6 weeks before departure for personalised advice.
